I'm very pleased with it, but I think you'll have to decide for yourself, based on your experience and what you really want to do with the camera. The D80 has a lot of fine-tuning features I currently don't need, so if your understanding of focal lengths, ISO, etc... is at the same basic level as mine, then maybe something cheaper will suffice.
I suggest asking a local store carrying the camera if you're allowed to try it out (I bought the D80 after I could try it out sufficiently, as one store had the special offer to try any DSLR out for one day), and maybe also checking sites like [link] . Good Luck on finding the right camera for you!
